Hi Eddie, the coupon is named discount.txt and should be visible in your Gumroad Library > Photographer 4 content, next to the zip file. But I've sent you the direct link by mail as well.

Hey Fabien, I really like all the features you have implemented in your addon, but mostly I am interested in the "base" - setting real camera settings. So far I have only played around with your free version 2.xxx. I would be interested how your white balance step has been updated since then. In my tests I have set up a light in a scene with a 6500k blackbody and without any changes a grey object in the scene appears grey. I was assuming that I would be able to change color of the light to 3200k and change the whitebalance within your addon to 3200k and a grey object would appear grey again. Unfortunately I was not able to achieve that with version 2.xxx.

Great question. White Balance math has most likely changed a bit since version 2, but there are still discrepancies between the camera White Balance and the Blackbody node, because I did cut some corners for ease of use (and coding). But your post makes me want to dive back into it and hopefully get it sorted. There are some easy things I know I can do to improve accuracies, and some that I don't fully understand at the moment. I'll let you know.

Hi again! I have added more White Balance algorithms in 5.4.1, you can pick between the different Color Temperature modes from the WB panel in the preferences. Please note that this is an experimental feature and the picker might not work accurately at the moment.

Great addon and a must have for Blender. There is a small bug... When you have a Clip Start distance and you turn on Depth of Field and then Bokeh Texture, the Clip Distance changes to 0.2

Comment author avatar
chafouinCreator

This is not really a bug, but a requirement :) The Bokeh effect is created by placing a textured mesh very close to the focal plane of the camera. In order to render that mesh, the clip distance has to be moved in front of it.

Hello! Amazing addon and been using it since I started blender 2 years ago. I just had an idea to add a function that can place a small area light just next to the camera, like a flash light. I fell the effect makes a more realistic image. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Hello! First, thanks for this. I've been having this issue a lot, I mean, it displays as an error but hasnt brought me any problem besides concern. Thanks for reporting it! It's a dumb mistake in the UI code, it should not have any impact on Photographer's functionalities. I have fixed it and will release an update soon. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi. I purchased Photographer 4 in 2021 and just found out that you've been doing updates via gumroad instead of Blender Market. I thought it had been completely discontinued as used to enjoy using it. :-( Is there any way I can get Photographer 5 with a discount and get back to using it in projects with Blender 4? Thanks, Andrew

Of course, if you go to your Blender Market Orders page, look for Photographer and Download the files. You will find a coupon code named discount.txt to buy Photographer 5 on Gumroad at the upgrade price.

Thanks for the cool add-on! I like the lens shift feature, do you have any plans to also support lens tilt? In the screenshot https://public-files.gumroad.com/s69bkzuf55fcx32us0tctjn353j7 the UI looks a bit different, with a "Lens tilt" option but no shift.

Hi! This is a pretty old GIF indeed, it has now been renamed Lens Shift as it supports horizontal and vertical. Lens Shift V with Compensated option enabled is the same as the previous Lens Tilt. If by Lens Tilt you mean tilt-shift effect with very shallow depth of field, simply use Lens Shift and an extreme Lens aperture like f/0.5 (you can access such values by changing the Aperture mode from Presets to Sliders with the little gear icon on the right).

Hi! I am having problems when trying to activate the add on on blender... Python: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Users\bjorn\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.3\extensions\user_default\photographer\ui\post_effects_panel.py", line 327, in poll pfxpe = context.preferences.addons[base_package].preferences.postfx_panel_enable ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ KeyError: 'bpy_prop_collection[key]: key "bl_ext.user_default.photographer" not found' What should I do to make it work again? I updated blender to the 4.3.0 version and it stopped working...

Hi Björn, this looks like an installation problem, other users and myself have been able to use Photographer with Blender 4.3.0 just fine (that being said, I am releasing 5.4.8 today with some fixes related to 4.3.0, I'd advise you to grab that version!). Could you try a clean install, removing all previous versions and installing it again as an extension?

Comment author avatar

Here are installation steps that worked for me: - Open Blender Preferences, go to the Add-ons tab - On the top right arrow, click on Install from Disk - Select the file your downloaded: photographer-5.4.8.zip at the moment. - The add-on will then get installed and automatically loaded. If this doesn't work, maybe try to make sure you don't have any other previous installs, in the extensions folder or in the scripts/addons folder in your Blender local files (%appdata%\Blender Foundation\Blender\4.3).

Hi, just wondering if you're doing a BF sale?

Sorry, I don't participate in sales, I prefer to offer a well-priced add-on that rewarded early adopters :)

Hi I want to purchase Photographer 5, but Gumroad in not processing payments from any credit card. Can you sell this on Blender Market as well?

Hi, a quick question about the auto exposure. I notice you have to manually set keyframes every few frames in order for this to be animated. I am creating a long animation (Museum walkthrough) and was wondering if you have any plans to automate this, as it could get tedious on long animations? Perhaps with a button for it to set a keyframe every few frames (with a spinner, so you can change steps) and a "Clear AutoExposure keys" button as well. Thanks.

Auto Exposure baking has been added in version 5.4.6 in September 2024. Are you using the latest? The documentation is being rewritten to reflect this information, which is currently missing. I apologize for the confusion.

I was actually reading up on your product before purchasing it. That's great news; I'll go ahead now!
