Hello everyone,

Photographer development as been going strong in 2024, and I wanted to thank you for your support!

Version 5.4.14 is now available. It is the most stable version ever and I would highly recommend upgrading if you are using Blender 4.3. You may not see the update from the Add-on preferences "Check for updates", as it required code changes to support versions with 2 digits, which is why I am sending you this email !

Let me also take the time to mention a few improvements that happened in the recent updates:

White Balance is now compatible with the new Blender 4.3 White balance.
To enable it, go to the Add-on Preferences > Exposure / WB > Color Temperature Mode > Blender 4.3.
Photographer still adds some improvements over this new Blender feature, with the picker updating the viewport in real time, and the possibility to use different White Balance settings for each of your cameras.
Note that currently, this mode doesn't support "Apply at Compositing" as Blender devs are still working on the White Balance Compositing node.
Once this gets added, and for consistency and accuracy reason, this new Color Temperature Mode will most likely become the new default in Photographer.
Photographer also got basic compatibility fixes with Lens Sim. This new popular add-on recreates Lenses visual signatures and complex physically based imperfections, and can work in great synergy with Photographer for artists who want to push the realism slider to 11.

Please note that because of the technical approach of Lens Sim using a raytraced shader, some features of Photographer will not be compatible. They have been disabled at the moment to avoid confusion, but I will be looking into what is possible to do. Feel free to reach if you encounter any issue.
While Lens Sim can render some really advanced and expert lens imperfections, it is also good to remember that it will increase render times, and that these effects may not be easy to control.
Photographer as an alternative still gives you easy controls to create simple Bokeh shapes and Optical Vignetting, but also real-time compositing effects like complex Lens Distortion using STMaps , Chromatic Abberation, Bloom, Vignetting, Softness...I also wanted to share this great library of Bokeh shapes, which can used with Photographer:
